Film 116 Rant Project: Final Edition

Rant Project: Star Wars Fans Are Hypocrites

I recorded my audio in the walk-in closet in my room. There's a little table inside of it at the moment, so I positioned the mics on there towards myself as I sat on the ground.

Film 116 Essay 02 "Anti-Tourism"

What does Daniel Kalder mean when he says that he's an
anti-tourist"?

I think that what Daniel Kalder meant here is that, whenever he visits other places in the world, he doesn't exactly make it his top priority to visit the most well known locations in said areas. Hailing from Scotland, Daniel explained that, "I come from a very small town and after a couple of years, I started to find that a lot of the places that we're supposed to find interesting, that are supposed to be at the top of the list, I found a strange boredom creeping in whenever I visited them" (Kalder). He elaborates further by adding that, "... a lot of the places now have been seen so many times and written about so many times, that it's hard to see them for yourself" (Kalder). I completely agree with what he's saying here. When you hear about and see so many photos of famous landmarks, it really dampens the experience when you actually go and see said landmarks in person. It's for this reason that Daniel seems to want to visit less famous landmarks and locations, looking around for things that I, and many others, would classify as "hidden gems".

Drift Strategy:

For my drift strategy, I decided that I was going to flip two coins. One coin would be a quarter and the other coin would be a nickel. After arriving in a location of interest, like a park or a small town, I would flip the two coins. For the quarter, heads would determine if I went left and tails would determine if I went right. For the nickel, heads would determine if I went forward and tails would determine if I went down.
